hockey equipment overlooked by many?
It has come to my attention that very few NHL players wear
“slash guards”. (padded wrist protectors, if you prefer) Having played the game for many years, I am aware that today’s gloves have tremendous protection, but being flexible as they are, players are often in a vulnerable position to break / sprain their wrist, especially if they should lose a glove during play, or both during a fight should they fall on the ice. After a serious wrist injury years ago from merely blocking a shot (and I was wearing then-NHL endorsed Sherwood PMP 5060s) I can’t imagine being out on the ice without them .. how do those of you who either play the game, or have affiliations to teams, feel about this?
I wear slash guards because I am a goalie and have sticks coming at my wrist all the time. However, I think mouth guards are more over looked.
